Old City Tour: Icheri Sheher (Old City), known as a “fortress” – is a unique historical and architectural conservation area in the center of Baku. This is one of the ancient and densely populated places of the country and even of the Middle East. Archaeological excavations revealed burial vaults of the Bronze Age. The Maiden Tower (the 12th century) and the Shirvanshah palace (the 13th-16th century) are well-known historical monuments also locate in Old City. Besides them there are a lot of other unique monuments of Icheri Sheher: mosques, minarets, the remnants of caravanserais "Multani" and "Bukhara", ancient baths. There are a lot of souvenir shops where you can purchase national clothes, kerchiefs, scarves and caps, dishes and handmade carpets.

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Lerik.

Visiting of the Historical and Art Reserve Gobustan on the way. Gobustan is the national museum in the open air, the rarest monument of the world culture included into the UNESCO heritage list, one of the first centers of human civilization. Ancient images on the walls and caves, rocks and boulders. Their story covers the Upper Paleolithic period until the Middle Ages. There are located remains of the great prehistoric cromlech (a circular composition of vertical stones, Azerbaijani analogue of Stonehenge). There are approximately 6000 drawings in Gobustan – petroglyphs describing people and animals. Visiting Gobustan State Historical-Artistic Museum equipped with innovative technology, touch screens provided with special multimedia programs, educational and entertaining games, interactive displays, 3D video and others.

Visiting  Mud Volcanos. Azerbaijan is the first in the world by the number of mud volcanoes. 350 out of 800 mud volcanoes in the world are located here! The mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan occupied the 5th place in the international contest of “Seven natural Wonders”, and on September 15, 2004 the largest mud volcano of the world located in Azerbaijan was registered in the Guinness Book of Records. Visiting mud volcanoes depends on weather and road conditions.

Drive to Lerik.

Sightseeing places in Lerik:  Visiting the mausoleums of Khodja Seid (XVI c.),  Baba Khasan and Buzeyd. Ancient mountain settlement Giz Yurdu (located at the altitude of 1200 m), meeting with local long-livers and getting insight into the way of life and traditions of local people, visit long-livers’ museum. Also, guests may see Nisli bridge (optional).

3 day:

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Lenkoran.

Sightseeing places in Lenkoran: Lenkoran Fortress (XVIII c.), ancient mosques and minarets, museum of Local Lore, Khanbulag water preserve, Nature reserve of Girkan.

Trip to Masalli. Sightseeing places in Masalli; Arkivan Tower (IX-X cc), Nazari Khanim mausoleum (XIV в.), Canyon of Vilyashchay river, beautiful waterfalls, mineral and thermal springs.

Drive back to Baku. Overnight in the hotel in Baku.

Visiting Azerilme Carpet Center & Workshop where you will be taken to carpet workshops using an ancient technique of carpet weaving. You'll be given a brief lecture from Azeri experts in carpets. You`ll see the process of the carpets` birth starting from the basic coloring of the weaves with natural colors; creating of sumakh rugs, djedjims, hourjins using ancient technologies and peculiarities of carpet weaving in different regions of Azerbaijan; old carpets` refinishing, straightening and cleaning. It will be also possible to purchase carpets and related items.

Visiting an ancient Zoroastrian temple of flame – Ateshgah. The temple ages back to the 17-18th centuries and was built by Indian fire-worshipers’ community in Baku. Visiting Yanardag (literary “burning mountain”) to observe natural burning flame outlets at the surface. The hill side is covered with flame and is better viewed at night times.

Visiting Azerbaijan's historical ethnographic reserve - the ancient village Gala.

In the village there are 243 monuments of architecture and archeology, dated back to the prehistoric men of the Bronze Age (3000 BC.) to the mosques, baths, premises belonging to the late Middle Ages. Covering an area of 156 hectares, the preserve contains burial mounds, crypts, dwelling houses as well as 4 storage pools, ruins of an ancient palace, 5 mosques and 3 bath-houses dating back to the period between 3rd Millennium BC and 20th century.

Dinner. Return to the hotel.

Free time. Walking down to Boulevard park, shopping center “Park Boulevard”, and other boutiques. Nizami Street (Old Trading zone with a lot of souvenir shops), Fountain Square. 

3 day:

Breakfast at the hotel.

On the way to Ismayilli region we will visit the town of Shamakhi with biggest mosque of Caucasus – “Juma Mosque” and Shirvanshah Tombs – “Yeddi Gumbez”.

Then we will drive to Ivanovka village which is very interesting as people there still live in the atmosphere of USSR with having all contemporary conditions. Here guests may see beautiful wine yards and even taste a wine.

Drive to Lahij village. Lahij represents an original monument of the Persian town-planning and architectural art of an antiquity. It is a medieval city with paved streets and areas, developed system of water drain and water supply. Lahij is one of known on Caucasus and behind its limits of handicraft-shopping centers. In a XVIII century, being a part of Persia, the city has especially become famous for manufacturing of cold steel and copper utensils decorated with the engraved ornament. Lahij is historical-architectural monument protected by the state. The city is included in the international tourist route on the Great Silk Way.

On the way to Shamakha: visiting the Diri Baba mausoleum in Maraza, in Shemakha - visiting the Juma Mosque and complex of mausoleums “Yeddi Gumbez” – Seven Domes, the ruins of Gulistan fortress (XI – XII c.), mausoleum of Shahihandan (XV век), Gulustan Fortress (XI-XII c.).

5 day:

Drive to Sheki. Check-in at the hotel. Lunch.

Sheki is one of the most famous and ancient places of Azerbaijan. Situated 700 m (2297 ft.) above sea level like an amphitheatre surrounded by the mountains and forests of oak trees, this ancient city was long famed as a silk centre and an important stop on the Great Silk Route. Visiting Khan's summer Palace (dated back to 18th century) with magnificent frescos and exquisite stained glass work. Then visiting of “Shebeke” (handmade stained glass) workshop, “Pakhlava” (special and famous in Azerbaijan sweet) workshop and Tekelduz (a kind of weaving popular in this area) workshop. Walking along the old street and visiting of different craftsman workshops.

Visiting of Albanian Church in Kish Village.  It is located approximately 5 km north of Sheki. According to historians this small church one of the first Christian churches on Caucasus and was renovated with funds of Norwegian Government in 2000. (optional)

6 day:

Drive to Ganja. Sightseeing places in Ganja: Ganja City Gates (X – XI c.), Juma mosque (XVII c.), Karavansaray of Shakh Abbas, Ancient German Church, ancient Albanian temple, Church of Alexander Nevsky, ancient bridges(XII c.), baths and karavansarays. Visit to the mosque of “Shah Abbas”, museum of miniature, “Bottle house”, mausoleum of the Great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi. Visit to the local bazaar.

Visiting Bibi Heybat Mosque.  Built in the 13th century by Shirvanshah Farrukhzad II Ibn Ahsitan II, which was completely destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1936 and restored later in the end of the 20th century. The Bibi-Heybat Mosque includes the shrine of Ukeyma Khanum (a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad), and today is the spiritual center for the Muslims of the region and one of the major monuments of Islamic architecture in Azerbaijan.

Depart for the Caucasus Mountains in the northwest of Azerbaijan. The dry landscape around Baku gives way to a densely forested mountain area.

Tour in Gabala surroundings: mausoleums in Hazra village (XV-XVII centuries.), historical Museum, ruins of the capital of the Caucasian Albania (IV century. BC- XI in.), ruins of the capital of the Caucasian Albania (IV century. BC- XI in.), waterfalls, woods, Lake Nohur.

6 day:

Tour in Gakh region. Gakh is a district in the north-west of Azerbaijan, on the border with Georgia. The most ancient artifacts found here are considered pitcher burials (I century BC). Mounds discovered here as a result of archeological excavations are related to the Bronze Age. One of the places of interest is a fortress Sumug Gala (XVII c.) in the Ilisu village.  At the moment there is Gakh Local History museum named “History of Ilisu Sultanate” is situated in the fortress. One of the popular Soviet movies “Don’t be afraid, I am with you” was shot there. If you go higher to Shamil’s fortress (XIX century) on mount Yezlidag there appears a very nice view of the valley and the Great Caucasus ridge above the village.

Drive back to Baku.

* 3 and 4 stars hotels in Baku located in the city center. 5* hotel located 8 min drive to the center.
All prices are valid till end of December 2016.
* Prices can be changed during exhibitions and festivals period
